Back to...REP!

REP has started again here in St. Mark's SNS and our 3rd classes are now getting to experience REP for the first time. So what is REP all about?

REP stands for: Reading for Enjoyment and Pleasure and it takes place each morning in our school from 9.00am to 9.30am Monday-Thursday. REP was established in our school to enhance the literacy skills of our pupils. It aims to encourage enjoyment of reading and a motivation to read through the creation of an interesting and inviting reading environment. The children get to read a variety of novels and texts in their REP groups - some famous authors that we have in stock are Roald Dahl, Michael Morpurgo and John Quinn! Each morning, pupils delve deeper into their novels and texts, developing and enhancing their reading skills through a variety of exciting activities each morning. This helps to improve their fluency, comprehension skills and confidence to read.

Where does REP happen?

Pupils are split into different groups and work with another teacher and other pupils from their year group. Children line up in the morning with their class, but from Monday to Thursday they go straight to their REP room once they enter the school building.

Being on Time!

It is so important to do your best to be on time each morning. In doing so you are ensuring that you are developing your reading skills and not missing out on any new learning.

Most importantly - ENJOY it. Imagine how many novels and texts you will have read by the end of 6th class just from having REP each day? And that doesn't include what you read at home and with your class teacher during the year. Remember.....

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you will go".
